When the moon and sun met
I made the moon and sun meet.
I hugged the sun goodbye
And kissed the moon to sleep.
If I could live with both in the sky,
Maybe they would stay out of my dreams.
It seems no matter how hard I try,
They won’t play on the same team.
If one of them were to cry,
It would tear apart my seams.
To see the two together, I would smile.
The moon would kiss my eyes to sleep
And the sun could kiss my mouth when my eyes open.
I could never see them kiss
And I could never hold them together
So I lay alone when I sleep
And remain alone when I’m awake.
